Bullets & Bourbon: Reloaded
A downloadable game
Physical copies of Bullets & Bourbon: Reloaded can be found at my website and Third Kingdom Games!
The year is 1886 and the Jefferson Territory remains lawless, deadly, and unincorporated. The United States government has deployed the cavalry to pacify the region, but it remains a wild country. The town of Lincoln is the closest thing to civilization in these parts, but venture too far from town and you'll find yourself in the true frontier. If you’re willing to risk it all, the Jefferson Territory is home to wealth and glory. Just keep your fists hard and your wits keen, cowpoke. Better folk than you have gone out there and died. They certainly won’t be the last.
Bullets & Bourbon is a card-based tabletop RPG where the players take on the role of Cowpokes - outlaws, bounty killers, homesteaders, and other folks that have come out West in search of something - or the Dealer, who serves as a referee and storyteller. All anyone needs to play is their own deck of cards and a means of keeping track of their character and the goings on in the West.
Sessions are episodic, with Cowpokes traveling from one town to the next working odd jobs or planning their next score - maybe they're guarding wagon trains, robbing banks, or following the hastily drawn scribbles on a treasure map they won in a hand of cards.
The game is played out like a conversation until a risky scenario or action is presented, at which point a Challenge is started. Challenges are played out a little like a hand of Poker and a little like a game of War! and can represent anything from a shootout to a horse race to convincing the sheriff that you’re not in town to cause trouble. One shouldn't go into every situation guns blazing, however - Challenges are dangerous and oftentimes downright deadly. A Cowpoke needs to be equal parts clever and lucky to make sure they don't wind up in a shallow grave out on the prairie.

Quick question about the Eagle Eyes sleight of hand. As Dealer and players both normally draw and reveal their hands what is the advantage of this ability. We think it might be that the Dealer reveals his draw before the character wagers, but we're not really sure. Still having an absolute blast with the game. Thanks in advance for your help.
That's correct! The idea is that the Dealer plays their cards before the Cowpoke has to decide if it's worth making a big wager or if they're better off taking a small loss.
Thanks, that's a great sleight of hand. Most of my players are level 4 and the sleights of hand combos are getting really interesting and tailored to each character.
Finally started a mini campaign. Party are freelance troubleshooters operating out of Lincoln City but roaming across the territory. Currently investigating gold bullion robberies. My players and I love this game. The card resolution system is both dynamic and creates tense action. Get this game.
I'm glad you're enjoying it! My own games tend to lean heavy in the campy, Ballad of Buster Scruggs/Looney Toons sort of direction, but I think that's more the folks that I have at my table.
If you're looking for a bigger world to explore, I highly recommend Ghosts of the Sierra Verde by Sivad's Sanctum! They've only rolled out the first chunk of the world and it's already huge.
Sounds fun. We're definitely at the Unforgiven end of the spectrum. Currently exploring the issues between the oil prospectors and Native Americans.
Keep me posted about your campaign - it sounds very intense!
Hi. Grabbed a community copy and got to say I love it, I'm a sucker for westerns. Will there be physical copies of the finished book available for non backers as I'd love to own a copy but don't have the funds to back right now. Thanks.
I will be selling physical copies on my website as soon as I have everything together and ready to go. The game's page will be updated with a link!
Hey that's great news. I'll keep an eye on the page. Thanks for the reply.
Of course! I'll try my best to give you an update when that happens.
Snagged a physical copy. Even with the craziness of international shipping to get it here to the UK, I am delighted. This is a truly great game.
I sent it out today!
